Applies to: All children who attend All Active Camps
Audience: Children, parents, guardians, staff, and volunteers
Our holiday camps are designed to be safe, fun, inclusive, and supportive environments where every child can enjoy themselves, build confidence, make friends, and take part in activities in a positive way.
We recognise that children are at different stages of development and that behaviour can vary, especially in exciting holiday settings. Our approach is therefore supportive, consistent, and age-appropriate, with a strong focus on helping children understand expectations and make good choices.
We expect all children to:
Feel safe, valued, and respected at all times
Be treated fairly and consistently by staff
Be supported to learn from mistakes and improve behaviour
All children attending the camp are expected to behave in a way that allows everyone to enjoy the experience.
Children should:
Treat other children, staff, and visitors with kindness and courtesy
Listen carefully to instructions and guidance from staff
Use appropriate language and tone at all times
Respect personal space, boundaries, and feelings of others
Children should:
Follow all safety rules explained at the start of the day and during activities
Stay within designated areas and remain with their group
Use equipment, resources, and facilities correctly and sensibly
Inform a staff member if they feel unsafe or see something concerning
Children should:
Include others in games, activities, and group work
Show respect for differences in ability, background, culture, and personality
Be supportive of others and avoid negative comments or behaviours
Never engage in teasing, bullying, or deliberate exclusion
Children should:
Take care of equipment, facilities, and personal belongings
Be honest about mistakes and take responsibility for actions
Make a positive effort to join in and try new activities
Follow routines such as lining up, transitions, and tidy-up times
The following behaviours are not acceptable and will be addressed by staff:
Bullying, intimidation, or deliberate exclusion of others
Physical aggression (including hitting, kicking, pushing, or rough play)
Verbal abuse, swearing, shouting, or threatening language
Racist, sexist, or discriminatory behaviour or comments of any kind
Deliberate damage to property, equipment, or facilities
Repeated refusal to follow reasonable staff instructions
Leaving the group, activity, or designated area without permission
Behaviour that disrupts activities or negatively impacts others’ enjoyment
We use a clear, calm, and consistent approach to behaviour management. Our primary aim is always to support children in improving behaviour, rather than using punishment.
A staff member will speak to the child calmly and privately where possible
The expected behaviour will be clearly explained
The child will be given guidance or support to help them make a better choice
Younger children may receive extra reminders or visual prompts
If the behaviour continues, the child will receive a clear verbal warning
The consequences of continued behaviour will be explained
The child may be given a short time-out or reflection time appropriate to their age
Staff will discuss what needs to change before the child returns to the activity
Continued inappropriate behaviour may result in removal from the activity
The child will remain supervised at all times
A senior staff member or camp leader will be informed
The incident will be recorded where appropriate
Parents or guardians will be informed of ongoing or serious behaviour concerns
Staff will explain what has happened and what steps have been taken
A discussion will take place to agree on next steps and support strategies
In cases of serious or repeated unacceptable behaviour, parents may be asked to collect their child early
In extreme cases, a child may be excluded from future sessions or camps
No refunds will be issued where exclusion is due to behaviour
Some behaviours are considered serious and may result in immediate escalation, including:
Serious physical aggression or fighting
Behaviour that puts the child or others at risk of harm
Serious bullying, harassment, or discriminatory behaviour
In these situations, parents or guardians may be contacted immediately and asked to collect their child.
We actively promote positive behaviour throughout the camp by:
Praising effort, kindness, teamwork, and positive attitudes
Recognising and rewarding good behaviour
Setting clear routines and expectations from the start of each day
Providing engaging, structured, and age-appropriate activities
Supporting children who may need additional guidance or reassurance
We believe positive behaviour is best supported when staff and parents work together.
By enrolling your child in our holiday camp, parents and guardians agree to:
Discuss behaviour expectations with their child before attending
Reinforce the importance of respect, safety, and inclusion
Support staff decisions regarding behaviour management
Work constructively with us if behaviour concerns arise
This behaviour policy is reviewed regularly to ensure it remains fair, effective, and appropriate for all children attending our camps.
If you have any questions about this policy, please contact us before your child attends the camp.
